The Inverness Metropolitan Improvement District was formed in 1980 and has been instrumental in the development of recreational, traffic and common area infrastructure for the Inverness Park. The District owns and maintains the John Derry Park recreational amenity. The District works with local jurisdictions – Arapahoe County, Douglas County and Centennial to maintain the roads, traffic signals, signage, and common area landscaping within the Inverness Park. Inverness was originally designed as a suburban business park, contained few sidewalks and did not have any residential construction until 2005. The District participated in the construction of the Dry Creek and County Line pedestrian bridges connecting the park to the Denver RTD Light Rail stations. The District has also added over 5 miles of sidewalks and pathways to improve pedestrian connections within the park and to the light rail stations.
